I was a child living on a farm without animals in the woods of Upper Michigan when I realized Lucid Dreaming was within my power. I would often get myself started by going over a memory from the day, of wandering through the trees or discovering a wooded creek near an old abandoned logger's homestead. I'd tell myself a story and then watch as my mind took over while I slept, melding together images of the sky, melting snow, a skinned knee, the branches of the trees I climbed... and then often, I'd give myself some power I had not possessed during the daylight hours, such as a sort of hovering kind of flight I preferred, not too high but also restrictively grounded.
Lucid dreaming is like another medium of art to me. It offers an escape when needed, and an imaginative twist on perspective.
"Lucid" is awaiting varnish and is 18 x 24. Acrylic on canvas. It will be available both as an original and as prints.
