In mythology, "Mer" means Sea. In science, it comes from the greek, "meros," or parts of a whole. Repeat units in nature fascinate me: the way lungs resemble trees, the way a bank of clouds can mirror the treed horizon. When I think of the sea of humanity, all of us parts of a whole, and the cells in our bodies, also parts of a whole, I find peace. We are both individuals and part of the collective and I find comfort in the intelligent design of this abstract world of thought.
"Mer" is 18 x 24 and is currently in the varnish process, acrylic and marker on canvas. It will be ready to ship in September and will be available both as an original and as prints.
